Key Steps
1. Open the Legend Manager
Navigate to the Legend Manager in the top-right corner of the campus interface.
Open it using either method:
Click the Legend Manager icon, or
Use the hotkey Shift + L.
Confirm the Legend Manager panel is open before proceeding.
2. Start a New Legend
In the Legend Manager, choose one of the two options to create a new legend:
Start a Legend Set in the center of the panel, or
Create Legend in the top-right corner.
Either option will begin the same legend creation workflow.
3. Select the Landscaping Legend Type
When prompted to choose a legend category, select Landscape Symbols.
Use this option when building a landscaping-related legend such as plants, trees, shrubs, or ground covers.
4. Name the Legend
Enter a clear legend name that matches the content being captured.
For a plant schedule, use a name such as Plants.
Save the name by either:
Clicking anywhere outside the field, or
Pressing Enter.
5. Extract the Schedule Table from the Drawing
Choose how to populate the legend:
Add Symbol if entering items one at a time, or
Extract Table to capture the full schedule at once.
For a complete plant schedule, select Extract Table.
6. Select the Table Area
Use the standard two-click selection method to define the table boundary.
Click once at the top-left corner of the schedule.
Drag to create a rectangle around the entire table.
Click again to close the rectangle and complete the selection.
7. Review the Extraction Process
Wait while the system extracts the symbols and related data from the selected table.
If needed, stop the process by clicking Cancel This Run.
Verify that the extracted count matches expectations (for example, 16 symbols in the demo).
8. Save and Review the Legend Matrix
If the extracted symbols and data look correct, click Save and Review.
Confirm that the symbols and all associated column information from the original schedule appear in the legend matrix.
Use the populated matrix to verify the legend is complete and accurate.
Cautionary Notes
Make sure you select the correct legend type before extracting data.
Confirm the table boundary includes the full schedule; missing rows or columns may cause incomplete extraction.
Use Cancel This Run if the wrong area is selected or the extraction appears incorrect.
Review the extracted symbol count and table data before saving to avoid errors in the final legend.
Best Practices
Use Shift + L to open the Legend Manager faster.
Use Extract Table when building a legend from an existing schedule to save time versus adding symbols individually.
Name the legend clearly and consistently so it is easy to find later.
Double-check the extracted matrix immediately after saving to catch issues early.
