2. Rename, duplicate, delete, or add a legend
Rename a legend by either:
Right-clicking the legend name and selecting Rename, or
Double-clicking the legend name and typing the new name.
Save the new name by clicking elsewhere in the Legend Manager or pressing Enter.
Right-click a legend to also Duplicate or Delete it.
Create a new legend by clicking Add Legend on the right side.
Select the correct legend set from the available options.
3. Set the naming convention for legend symbols
Click Name By to choose which attribute(s) will be used to label symbols in the legend.
Select a column header such as botanical name, common name, or another available attribute.
Press Enter to apply the selected naming field.
To use multiple attributes, select more than one column header.
Add separators such as spaces or dashes between selected fields so the names display clearly.
Remove unwanted fields by clicking Name By again and deselecting them, then press Enter to save.
4. Add missing entries or columns
Click Add Entry if a symbol is missing from the legend.
Choose whether to:
Extract another symbol, or
Add a one-off symbol.
Click Add Column to create a new column for information that was not pulled into the legend.
Rename the new column if needed by right-clicking it and selecting Rename.
Use the new column to capture missing data such as quantity or other project-specific details.
5. Manage columns and entry-level actions
Right-click any column or cell to access additional actions.
Available actions may include:

Move an entry
Delete
Delete any unnecessary column after confirming it is not needed.
Use these controls to keep the legend organized and aligned with project requirements.
6. Use the three-dot menu for advanced legend options
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of a legend to access advanced options.
From this menu, you can:
Rename the legend
Duplicate the legend
Group it by specific attributes
Export it directly to takeoff
Export it as a CSV
View the source of the legend data
Save it as a shared legend for company-wide use
Add a shared legend into the Legend Manager
Delete the legend entirely
Use these options when you need to standardize, share, or remove legend data.
7. Adjust column widths and remove unwanted entries
Resize columns by dragging the column borders to make fields narrower or wider.
Select individual entries to delete specific items.
Use the top-left selection box to select all entries at once.
Click the top-left box again to clear the selection.
Delete any unwanted entry, then confirm the deletion when prompted.
Use this step to remove symbols or materials that should not remain in the legend.
Cautionary Notes
Be careful when deleting legends, columns, or entries; deletion may be permanent after confirmation.
When using multiple fields in Name By, include spaces or dashes between fields to avoid unreadable concatenated names.
Confirm that the correct legend set is selected before adding a new legend.
If a column or entry was not pulled correctly from the plan, verify whether it should be added manually before deleting or renaming anything.
Shared legends may affect other users in the company, so only save as shared when the legend is ready for broader use.
Best Practices
Use double-click to rename quickly instead of opening a context menu.
Use the expand button to work in a larger view when editing many entries.
Group legends by attributes when you need cleaner organization for takeoff or reporting.
Export to CSV when you need to review or edit legend data outside the application.
Use shared legends for repeated project types to reduce setup time.
Resize columns early so key information is visible while editing.
